Puzzled by LP (Long Playing) Disk Sales

How do you explain this data?  Please don’t tell me that an LP sounds better than a CD.  CDs are superior to LPs in every possible way…  Why are people buying millions of LP disks per year?

A friend of mine thinks it is “the coolness/retro/nostalgia/etc. element that is driving this.  It’s also much cooler to see cover artwork in 4-5x the size you see it on a CD.”

P.S.  Should I get an LP turntable as well?
