I wrote earlier about how skyscraper designers cheat a bit to make their buildings taller and how the very desire to construct such expensive buildings might be a sign of an upcoming economic crisis in the country.
In this post, I simply want to recap the list of the Top 10 tallest buildings at the moment.
At some point in the future, this somewhat silly competition will be stopped by the laws of physics, or economics, or both. But, for now, the race continues, with the next tallest building coming soon: the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia that will be 3,280-feet-tall (1 km) and will cost $1.23 billion to build. It’s sad to see this money wasted instead of being used for, say, education.
The literacy rates in Saudi Arabia, for example, are below 90%. I wonder how much that $1.23 billion could have helped…
